Sous Chef

We are looking for a Sous Chef / Junior Sous Chef to join the team in our thriving Garden Café kitchen.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

  • Contribute to menu development, bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the table.

  • Supervise and train junior kitchen staff with a positive and professional approach.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety and food safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.

  • Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless service during our busy periods.

  • Maintain a good relationship with the front of house team.

Required:

  • Proven experience as a Sous or Junior Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high quality, fresh food environment.

  • Strong understanding of seasonal ingredients and the ability to create dishes that reflect the best of local produce.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

Work schedule: day shifts with limited evening shifts for occasional events.

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Pay: Up to £35k per year, depending on experience
