Our Community
So far you have helped to raise over £65,000 for our nominated charity - Reverse Rett.
Thank you for your support.
Archerfield Walled Garden is an active contributor in the local community and believe the estate has many benefits to offer people in the area.
Dirleton Village
Dirleton is the closest village to the estate and we are very much integrated within the local community. As well as supporting the local primary school and playgroup, we are also working the Village Association on their village wish list and will input where we can. Every year we supply a Christmas Tree for the village green.
Dirleton Primary
We have forged strong links with the local primary school in Dirleton and enjoy inviting them to spend time in our garden as part of their curriculum. Children from the school were involved in building 3 bug houses in our wildlife area and we recently supplied sawn logs and stepping stones for their woodland classroom. We’re happy to give the school a Christmas tree each year too.
Dirleton Playgroup
Each year we host The Dirleton Run - a fundraising event which involves two different run routes, a 10k and a 5k. This is a hugely popular event within the local community and raises an average of around £1500 each year - all of which goes straight to the playgroup.
Reverse Rett
Reverse Rett is our chosen charity partner, and since we opened in 2013, our visitors and customers have helped raise £65,000. We fundraise year round through a variety of endeavours: we add 50p onto the sale of every burger, we have a donations box at our Wishing Tree and we have a digital donations box sited within our building so that people can donate with ease and with a payment method they choose. Additionally, we have hosted the annual Reverse Rett Run which has helped raise a large proportion of the figure above. Find out more about Reverse Rett here.
junior parkrun
We’re delighted to be the venue for East Lothian’s only junior parkrun! Every Sunday, children aged 4 - 14 years can join this fun 2k timed race. Entry is free, however all runners must register online before the event and bring along their unique barcode.
Edinburgh Taxi Outing
In June every year, a cohort of Edinburgh taxi drivers take a day off work and bring a group of special children to East Lothian for a day at the seaside. Taxis are decorated with balloons and cardboard structures, drawing crowds to see them passing on their way through local towns. The taxis gather in one of our fields to finish the day with food, drinks and a fun fair.
Garden Projects
We love any opportunity to get involved with environmental charities and garden projects and have previously donated compost, seeds, flowers, logs, willow and more as well as offering the services of our gardeners. Please get in touch if you think we can help you with a community or charity project.
Donations & Raffle Prizes
We enjoy donating where we can to local groups and not for profit organisations and have made contributions to various raffles, auctions and events over the years. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate every request that we receive, but all requests are considered.
